On July 16, 1790, President George Washington signed the Residence Act approving the creation of a capital district located along the Potomac & Anacostia Rivers. It was originally named the “Federal City” then was changed to the District of Columbia. But, it’s affectionately referred to as Washington, DC.

The owners, all deriving from the DC Metro area wanted to create a brand that would pay homage to the city they call home. Hence the name “Seven 16”.
